be well staff ¬ Katie Pertus

Originally from Cape Breton, I graduated with honors from the Maritime Art Institute of Holistic Esthetics in 2005. My sense of adventure lead me to move to the opposite end of the province to start my career in the spa of a 4-star golf resort. It was one of the best decisions I've made because it was here, when I really discovered who I was - without the influence of loving friends or family whom had surrounded me my whole life.

After two tourist seasons there, I became increasingly curious to learn more about human anatomy, physiology and the art of massage. After amusing the spa's only R.M.T. with my endless questions, I decided it would be best for me to go back to school and learn everything first-hand.

Hundreds of home-made flash cards and hours of studying later, I completed my diploma in massage therapy with honors in 2008 from I.C.T. Northumberland College, Halifax. I became particularly interested in myofascial, pregnancy massage and TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint) dysfunction treatments.

After working in various spas and clinics, I believe that I've finally found a good fit here at Be Well Spa. I've always had a great love for nature and I'm committed to doing my part to keep it "green". I feel privileged to work somewhere that uses organic and local products as often as possible, considerably decreasing our carbon footprint and providing a healthier alternative for body and skin care.

As both a General Esthetician and Registered Massage Therapist, I am able to offer a variety of skills and treatments to my clients.

I look forward to your visit,

Katie
