The main suncare line that we have decided on for the spa is Lavera. This company originates from Germany and has been around for years. Lavera uses micronized zinc and titanium instead of chemicals to block UV.

As the minerals are micronized you will not look ghostly and pale from applying them and mineral sunscreens are effective immediately upon applying, unlike chemical sunscreens.

Many countries have already banned the Oxybenzone family of chemicals that are (were) typically used in most chemical based sunscreens, because of their strong links to promoting skin cancer. It is unclear what Health Canada will do about the products that have being taken off the market elsewhere, so these chemicals are still in use here.

Lavera products are completely organic and chemical- free. And along with us carrying various forms and strengths of sunscreens, we also have a lip balm that has an SPF of 15, a self tanner and an after sun lotion.
